  7. Counties Contest Results for Autumn 1995
  8.  
  9. Once again there was a record entry for the second 2 Metre 
  10. Counties Contest of 1995. This event is by far the best supported 
  11. in the IRTS contest calendar.  Conditions weren't anything like as 
  12. good as they had been during VHF Field Day, but nevertheles scores 
  13. were well up to normal.
  14.  
  15. In the FM only section, Tommy EI9EZB was a clear winner with 836 
  16. points, with second place going to John EI6ARB/P on 525 points. 
  17. Mike EI2IB/P was only 21 points behind John to take third place 
  18. while Francis EI7HE/P finished fourth with a score of 320 points.
  19.  
  20. In the high power fixed section, Tom EI4DQ again took first place 
  21. with Graham EI9II runner up with 392 points.

  24. The low power fixed section was won by Warren EI6ETB with a score 
  25. of 600 points followed closely by Paul EI3ENB on 581 points.

  27. In the high power portable section, EI2HX/P operated by Pat EI2HX 
  28. and Tony EI6ELB,made the highest score overall, 2268 points and 
  29. the runner up was David EI6HP/P on 476 points.

  32. Congratulations to the winners in each section and especially to 
  33. Pat EI2HX and Tony EI6ELB, operators of EI2HX/P, who had the 
  34. highest total which included QSOs with 14 different counties.

  37. Thanks to everyone who sent in an entry. The Contest Manager, Paul
  38. EI5DI reports that the standard of logkeeping was very good. All 
  39. QSOs were checked as even a small mistake might invalidate a 
  40. multiplier and make the difference between winning and losing, but 
  41. he didn't find a single error.

  46. Carlow & District Amateur Radio Group
  47.  
  48. The Annual General Meeting of the Carlow & District Amateur Radio 
  49. Group was held on Wednesday February 21st at the Regional 
  50. Technical Colege in Carlow. 
  51.  
  52. After reviewing a very successful year, the following Officers 
  53. were elected for 1996:-
  54.

  56.         Secretary               Pat Hutton EI6HF
  57.         Treasurer               Sean Corry EI6BPB

  60. John Gallagher EI8BD was congratulated on his excellent PR work as 
  61. amateur radio and the club were featured on the local paper 
  62. following a live demonstration in John's shack for a reporter and 
  63. photographer.

  66. Membership fees for the coming year are again only five pounds and 
  67. should be sent to the treasurer as soon as possible.

  69. The club meets weekly on Wednesday nights at the Regional 
  70. Technical College in Carlow at 7.30pm and visitors are always very 
  71. welcome.

  75. EI Activity Day
  76.  
  77. Last Sunday, St. Patrick's Day was a very busy one for EI 
  78. operators. Activity started early, with lots of EI's on eighty 
  79. metres and most counties were available at some stage during the 
  80. day.
  81.  
  82. Lots of activity was reported on two metres throughout the country 
  83. and members of the Tipperary Club were active from the Galtee and 
  84. Comeragh mountains. South Dublin Club members Joe EI7GY and Tom 
  85. EI7HT gave many operators a new WAI square on both 2 metres and 80 
  86. metres from near Greencastle, Co. Antrim.

  88. Early reports from across the Atlantic suggest that last Sunday 
  89. may have been the best yet in terms of the large numbers of EIs 
  90. who were active on twenty metres.

  92. Many of our Stateside members were heard working lots of EIs and 
  93. we can only hope that they managed to fill in their missing EI 
  94. counties for the WEIC Award.

  99. Midland Radio Experimenters Club
  100.  
  101. The Annual General Meeting of the Midland Radio Experimenters Club 
  102. will be held in the Jolly Mariner, Athlone on Tuesday April 2nd at 
  103. 8.30 pm.

  113.  
  114. Another club with an Annual General Meeting shortly is Cork Radio
  115. Club. They will meet to review the year gone by at their premises 
  116. in Wilton Park House, Bishopstown in Cork City on Monday night 
  117. next March 25th with a starting time of 8.30 pm.

  119. Cork Radio Club meets every Monday night at Wilton Park House and 
  120. visitors are always welcome.

  127. Tickets for the IRTS Annual Dinner to be held in Jury's Hotel in 
  128. Ballsbridge on Saturday April 27th are now available, priced at 
  129. twenty two pounds.
